Jan-Benedict E.M. Steenkamp, PhD, MSc, BSc (all summa cum laude), Dr. honoris causa (honoray doctorate) is the C. Knox Massey Distinguished Professor of Marketing and Marketing Area Chair at the Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina, USA. Prof. Steenkamp has written over 150 articles in leading marketing and management journals, and four books, including Private Label Strategy: How to Meet the Store Brand Challenge (published by Harvard Business School Press and translated in Simple and Complex Chinese, Portuguese, and Polish) and Brand Breakout: How Emerging Market Brands Will Go Global (published by Palgrave Macmillan). He has also written nine cases (available from The Case Center (formerly: European Case Clearing House)) on emerging market companies. His work has received over 22,000 citations, he is the highest ranked marketing scholar in the Global Top-100 of most cited scientists in economics and business, and is ranked # 1 in the world on scholarly influence in marketing in the last decade.
