Following are the basic criteria for the PGPX 2013-14 starting on 08 April 2013:

GMAT (www.mba.com) score obtained between April 1, 2009 and August 10, 2012. To ensure that your scores are sent directly to IIMA, please enter GMAT Code for IIMA PGPX CQQ-RR-60.

A clear idea of why he/she prefers IIMA for doing the one year full-time programme and a leadership potential will also help.

Adhering to a minimum age of 27 years at the start of the programme, a normal graduate should have 6 to 7 years of post qualification, full time work experience. Similarly, a post graduate should have 5 to 6 years of experience. A PhD/MPhil can be evaluated on case to case basis. We do not consider any part-time work experience.

No. All candidates, whether sponsored or not, will go through the same PGPX admission process.

No there is no minimum GMAT score requirement to be eligible to apply. But higher the GMAT score, better the chance of being shortlisted for an interview. Last year the average GMAT score of the selected candidates was 717.

The highest score amongst the tests taken after April 1, 2009 and on/before August 10, 2012 will be considered for PGPX 2013-14.

We will accept the test centre (unofficial) GMAT score from candidates up to August 10, 2012 which is the deadline for receiving the application forms.

 

Candidates are required to have the official score sent from Pearson to IIMA [CODE: CQQ-RR-60] soon after their submission of scores/application. The application will be considered incomplete unless the GMAT score is received from Pearson.

No. We do not take CAT scores for the PGPX.

There is no minimum requirement of Bachelor’s level scores as eligibility to apply. However, selected candidates are likely to have had a consistently good academic record.

No. On the contrary, every educational qualification already achieved will help.

Not necessary. PGPX helps candidates to take up leadership positions in all kinds of organisations – Corporate, NGOs, Government Services, Armed Forces, etc. Hence we welcome candidates from all backgrounds.

Leadership potential will be judged through application form content, essays and personal interview.

Profiles can vary from batch to batch. The profile information of earlier batches is the ‘average’ of the batch.

For PGPX 2013-14 we plan an intake of 85 students.

The focus is on leadership positions, strategic training and general management. The programme, however, offers a wide selection of elective courses for those wanting to pick up skills in a particular area.

Electives depend on student interest and faculty supply. Our effort is to provide a wide range of electives including on marketing, finance, supply chain management, strategic management and various sectoral areas.  In the past courses in Infrastructure Development and Public Private Partnerships, Hospital Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Creativity, Film Industry, International Business, Mergers and Acquisitions, Carbon Finance, E-Governance, Ethics, Fixed Income Markets, Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Management of New and Small Firms, Managing Telecom Enterprises, Management of Information Systems, Managing Corporate Reputations, Corporate Governance, Law, Leadership, Customer Analytics, E-Marketing, Education, Energy Businesses, Media and Society, Retailing, Venture Capital and Private Equity have also been offered.

On successful completion, students are given a One Year Post-Graduate Diploma in Management for Executives. This may be considered equivalent to the one year management programmes offered by INSEAD (France), Asian Institute of Management (Philippines), University of Pittsburgh (USA), Cranfield University (UK), Indian School of Business (India) etc.

While both are full-time (on campus residential) programmes, PGPX – a one year programme compared to the PGP’s two year programme -  is focused on leadership and change agentry at the global level. In terms of core courses there is a focused set of courses under a theme called ‘Preparing for  Management’ (PTM) and since the orientation is to give general management perspective for a  management executive, there is a ‘Capstone’ exercise which is a business game aimed at integration of all that has been learned over the year. To address preparedness for the global arena, an ‘International Immersion Programme’ (IIP) is organized which includes an academic in-class component in a foreign university. Since the participants are mostly married and have substantial work experience, they need to make a ‘disruptive’ shift from a work environment to an academic environment. This is done through an ‘Induction’ segment at the start of the programme.  Also since all the participants have substantial work experience, the ‘Individual Research Project’ (IRP) – an elective course – is an opportunity for reverse learning through crystallizing that experience in an academic environment.

Yes! They are eligible to apply for the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) at IIM, Ahmedabad, after successful completion of the PGPX, subject to certain academic standards. Some past PGPX alumni have gained admission in the FPM at IIMA. Some have also gone on to do PhD at places such as the HBS.

International Immersion is a two week international segment of PGPX where all students compulsorily go abroad for two weeks of academic study. It exposes the students to an environment different from their "home culture." It helps them understand the macro-economic underpinnings, strengths and weaknesses of the host country from a business perspective. The International Immersion prepares the students to take on challenging assignments anywhere in the new globalised world.

We facilitate placements through Placement Services. However this is an activity that is significantly driven by students themselves. Typically placement services are available to all students excepting those who are sponsored by their companies or those who are on Sabbaticals. At IIMA placements are driven by the Student Placement Committee under the supervision of the faculty Placement Chairperson and in co-ordination with the Relationship Manager for PGPX.  The process optimizes the interests of both the students and the companies.

 

The Student Placement Committee undertakes and manages various activities such as the corporate interactions (which take place throughout the year), pre-placement talks, floor management on placement days, etc.

 

There are two main placement activities on campus:

·         Pre-placement Talks/Corporate Presentations: Pre-placement presentations enable organizations to inform students about company’s business, work culture, organizational structure, career, and growth opportunities. Usually it’s a 30-minute presentation followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.

·         On-Campus Recruiting: Companies are recommended to plan a visit to the IIMA campus for conducting placement interviews and making job offers to suitable student candidates during the placement season. Telephonic and video conferencing (VC) discussions can be conducted prior to campus visit to shortlist suitable candidates. VC facilities are available on campus.

 

Companies interested in conducting recruitment activities at IIMA usually contact a student placement committee member/Relationship Manager for planning and arranging the same.

 

Recruiting organizations are required to provide the final offer details as per the reporting standards followed by IIMA. Details about the same can be sought from a placement committee member

 

IIMA charges recruiting organisations a fee for participating in the recruitment process, and a charge per successful hire.

Most candidates have been placed so far. However this is an activity that is significantly driven by students themselves.

Application fee of Rs. 5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand Only) is to be paid at the time of registration. This fee, once paid, is not refundable nor adjustable against future applications. However, if the candidate gets selected for the programme, the application fee would be adjusted against the Programme Fee.

No documents are required to be sent along with the Online Application Form at the time of online submission or separately.

 

These will be asked for to be provided within one week of the intimation of the Interview call.

 

The various documents would be: GMAT score, employment history, academic background, achievements, etc.

Please ensure that all data such as your Date of Birth, Academic Qualifications (Degree Titles, Names of the Institution/University, Grades/Marks) are correctly entered. Similarly you need to remember that the details of all your work experience that you are filling in the online application form will need to be later supported with relevant documentary evidence such as appointment letters, relieving orders, experience certificates, salary slips, etc. Hence please do not mention any part-time work experience or work experience for which you do not have any document to support the same. Please note that the application can be rejected at any stage of the selection process if the data provided in the online application form does not match the information contained in the original documents.

IIMA will not conduct any entrance test for the PGPX. Applicants have to submit their GMAT score obtained between April 1, 2009 and August 10, 2012 for those applying for PGPX 2013-14 starting on 8th April 2013.

Yes, this is a fully residential programme. Accommodation will be available for both single and married students. Much course work and group assignments are involved in the programme due to which it is imperative that the students live on the campus and study and work together.
