Wicked Saints: A Novel (Something Dark and Holy (1)) 3/5 Stars Author: Emily A. Duncan Publisher/Imprint: Wednesday Books Edition: Paperback ARC, 534 Pages Hardcover Publication Date: April 07, 2020 A Spine that Shines?

Serefin is fighting off a voice in his head that doesn’t belong to him. Coherent sentences just are not made after reading this book... gah.

The old ones who have slept for so very very long.’Here are a few more things to point out about this book:I’ve also noticed that the author has a tendency to It takes 100 pages or so for the plot to really get going. [Don't even start me on the ending because.....ouch.

Except, his voices of reason weren’t here.”[“She backed away from the power that suddenly was too strong, too much, too evil.” (Why did the power increase so quickly? It all felt very stereotypical but not in the fun way where the author does something new or innovative with the stereotype.

Hence, my Love your review – I read this arc last year and my lasting impression of it still is the blood and gore LOL, especially with Mal. My new favorite series.

Serefin's character arc was probably my favourite in Ruthless Gods. Malachiasz is at war with who--and what--he’s become. His tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear. If you enjoyed Wicked Saints you’ll love the sequel. To no one’s surprise, Ruthless Gods is full of monsters and I was LIVING for it.

April 7th 2020 it nearly killed me!

everyone is sad!

summary: Nadya doesn’t trust her magic anymore.

It could have been shorter, and I even wonder whether this series could have been a duology rather than a trilogy.

Breathtakingly intense with lyrical prose and a tight hold to an emotional plot. I don’t think it required 500+ pages.

This is just my inference of course but I hope that this helpsit's weird!

Not going to lie, my biggest pet peeve was that there were a few fight scenes where Nadya was using her magic and the story would just cut to a Serefin’s perspective as he was passing out.
The ending of this book was not that surprising to me. I seriously would want to be in a D&D campaign if she was a DM because you KNOW that her descriptions would be amazing.

I just felt the balance and development of the characters were off in Ruthless Gods.

And I can’t believe I have to wait at least another year before book 3. Please try again. Once again, the cleric, the prince, and the monstrous boy find their destinies irrevocably intertwined as mercurial gods and manipulative saints vie for power in this dramatic follow up to Wicked Saints.

Emily A. Duncan has an amazing talent for laying out a gothic world. Here goes.I have been sitting on this review for weeks and am finally ready to tweak the final version.

Once there was a boy who clutched at the remnants of what he had left as it fell through his fingers. In D&D, the DM is in charge of creating the “flavor text,” which is the descriptions of the world around the players as they are role-playing together. The worldbuilding, the pantheon of gods, of monsters, of heretics and holy people, it's all very complex and fascinating, but equally confusing and repetitive.WHIP OUT THE BLACK EYELINER AND CRANK UP THE HEAVY METALWHIP OUT THE BLACK EYELINER AND CRANK UP THE HEAVY METALThis was every bit as deliciously dark and full of blood, guts, gore, and death as the first book and while I did love every single page of it and all it's dark magic madness, this second book somehow felt different from the first. This was every bit as deliciously dark and full of blood, guts, gore, and death as the first book and while I did love every single page of it and all it's dark magic madness, this second book somehow felt different from the first.DNF at 25%.
