What we have here is a film about how the pursuit of money & revenge can corrupt your soul... or something like that. I had not read extensively about it, certainly not even thought about the movie in some months. This was the main battle at the end of the movie and Guy Ritchie has shown that in a magnificent way. And it's quite a storyline with all the symbolism and metaphors about chess and human sins squeezed into it. I like movies that are chaotic a bit but it's so discombobulated that I couldn't really follow any overarching themes and whatnot, let alone the story.I should have known from the start it would be this complex. Because our true enemy is in us - it is our ego... That voice that always tells us that we are important, that gives us our pride, that tells us not to give, but only to take, that creates our aggression, that wants to be in control, that creates all the negative feelings and thoughts. Because after Revolver, Swept Away now looks like Citizen Kane. . It plays like kind of a deconstruction on Jason Statham's career, but I'm pretty sure it was filmed before he actually took off as an action star. Revolver had its world premiere at the 2005 Toronto Film Festival, some 27 months before finding its way into a small number of U.S. multiplexes. It’s really not even close to Snatch, Lock Stock, or even The Gentlemen.Generally I am a fan of Richie.

This film is like the most horrific 90s TV ad for Guinness that never got shortlisted for an industry award.

Jason Statham's best performance. Andre 3000 is a natural as the loan shark who takes…Look I like the guy (eh! Could have paid more attention in the beginning.Regardless, it's still a fun movie with an impressive cast and varied characters. So, now I wanted to see Ritchie's previous works & rented out Snatch last week as it was 135 in the top 250 of IMDb. Revolver seems to be Guy Ritchie's most divisive film, and with good reason.

This movie REVOLVER is different than snatch; it's much darker and is very complex. The undoubted care and attention that has gone into art direction and design, the neon, the asphalt, the casinos, the handguns, the town cars and the luxury sedans - it all goes for nothing when there is no fun and no excitement, and certainly no compensatory food for thought. 112 out of 227 found this helpful.

However, this is one of the best films i have seen in a long time. This movie is very confusing and carried on for much longer than the 2hr or so running time as i couldn't stop thinking about it or trying to piece things together. It manages to have interesting cinematography and a good performance from Jason Statham. I was waiting in anticipation for this film as i had previously loved both Lock, Stock.... and Snatch, but after some of the negative reviews i thought i would be very disappointed.

The hidden nature of the self is brow-furrowingly brooded over. Revolver is a masterpiece and the ultimate achievement from Guy Ritchie. I believe he has taken movie-making to another level ( i know most people will be laughing at this comment guaging the reaction to this film, but i believe time will prove me right ). Philip French: Guy Ritchie has a certain flair for film-making, but Revolver ends up incoherent, solemn and pretentious. Revolver turned out to be an eerily prescient film. He attempted to merge his own brand of fun gangster flick with elements of psychological thrillers. Revolver T hose of us unfortunate enough to have seen Guy Ritchie's previous film, the straight-to-video desert island romance Swept Away starring Madonna, comforted ourselves at … Rarely is he allowed in any casino because he's a bona fide winner and, in fact, has taken so much money over the years that he's the sole client of his accountant elder brother, Billy. The larcenous influences would appear to be Bryan Singer's The Usual Suspects, Martin Scorsese's Casino and maybe even Peter Greenaway's The Draughtsman's Contract - though each of these movies is vandalised by the comparison. The problem is that the production doesn't hold all the bulky storyline together in a satisfying way.
