Jerome Joseph

 

Dr Jerome Joseph is currently Professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India. He has been a faculty member at the Institute since September 30, 1986. 

He is a Fulbright Visiting Scholar who has been with the Programme on Negotiation at the Harvard Law School during the year 1992-93 during which period he also attended the 30 day winter Negotiations Workshop led by Prof Roger Fisher to research Negotiations skill development pedagogy and the Principled Negotiations Method of the Fisher classic titled “Getting to Yes”.  

A Phd and gold medalist at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, he is an alumnus of Loyola College (Autonomous institution of the University of Madras) and the University of Madras. He has thirty-two years experience as educator, trainer, training designer, researcher and consultant in the areas of negotiations capability development, human resource management, employment relations, Macro Organizational Behaviour, training methodology, competence utilization, Coach-Mentor Development, Team Building Methodology, Field Management.  He has designed several innovative Executive Development Programmes and taught with distinction in all the Flagship Executive development Programmes at the Management Development Centre at the Institute.

He has conducted Executive Development Programmes in Negotiations Skills for organizations in Colombo, Singapore and Dubai. He has special interest in negotiations skills-capability development and has developed a negotiations skill-strategy framework as well as a unique negotiations pedagogy involving a multimethod strategy in order to help individuals to hone negotiations skills through clinics which come in one, two and three day formats. He has been teaching a full credit elective course titled Managing Negotiations for the postgraduate students of the Institute since 1989. 

Has guided a dozen doctoral students, published papers in refereed journals, published 5 books and developed several negotiations simulation exercises.  He has provided Consultant/Trainer services to several organizations in the family business, private, public and multinational sectors.  He has also held academic-administrative positions at IIMA.
